Enlargement policy and Western Balkans integration into the European Union is among the top priorities of EU leaders, the European Union Commissioner for Enlargement and Good Neighbourhood, Olivér Várhelyi confirmed to reporters upon his arrival in Tirana to attend the first-ever summit between EU and Western Balkan leaders in the Albanian capital.
In a statement to the international media, the Commissioner said that “EU membership is what we have to offer and that’s why we are here.”
“This is the reason why this Summit is taking place for the first time in the Western Balkans,” the Commissioner added.
Várhelyi and other EU leaders were welcomed by the Prime Minister Edi Rama at the “Italia” Square in Tirana ahead of the EU-Western Balkans Summit.
